How vaults work
A vault is a private team on outskill.it. Members share a roster, a points leaderboard, and a feed of unlocks and announcements. Nothing about a member is shown publicly unless they opt in.
Every vault has a number
Each vault gets its own registry number, stencilled on the door. Number 001 is Bearlow corp., the house vault and the first one on outskill.it.
Joining a vault
Every vault has a private unseal key. Badge in once and you are on the roster.
- Get the unseal key from whoever runs the vault.
- In the app, open Vaults and choose Join a vault.
- Badge in with the key. You are added immediately, there is no approval step.
Leaderboards
Vaults rank members by achievement points. Your standing inside a vault is visible to that vault. A separate global rank across all of outskill.it is strictly opt-in: it shows publicly only when you enable both the leaderboard opt-in and the public global-rank toggle.
Roles and permissions
- Owner: created the vault; full control, including the unseal key and settings.
- Vault manager: manages members and always sees validator links, regardless of the policy.
- Member: tracks their own credentials and appears on the leaderboard.
Who can see validator links
Each vault sets who can open a member's avatar to verify their certs: either all members or vault managers only. The owner can change it at any time.
The vault registry
New vaults take the next number in sequence, 002, 003, and so on. A vault's number is its public identity on member profiles.
Public plaques (double opt-in)
A vault plaque appears on your public profile only when both are true: you toggled show on profile, and the vault allows public plaques.
